Potato 'Masala' Mixture and Savory Granola in a Wonton Cup - A Flavorful Finger FoodFlavorful and Fashionable Finger Foods

Hosting parties is stressful, but someone has to do it or else there would be no fun for everyone else. One of the most stressful parts of a party, I find, is what to serve to eat. Chips and dips are classics but juvenile and when you are in your 20 something’s, you need to bring the class level up.

After having a few parties, both crazy college style and classic chic style, I have found one huge problem with the food I am serving. It is not all party friendly. Party friendly food should be easy to walk around with while you are holding a drink; it really shouldn’t require a plate and it should be easy to eat. Unless the party is centered on food, the food should just be a nice addition.

Finger Licking Good

Just because you want to make your food tiny and cute, doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on the flavor. One of my crowd pleasers is bruschetta, which, for the record, is pronounced with the /k/ sound, not the /ch/ sound. I make up a batch of Italian spiced olive oil, rub it on little slices of French bread, broil them and top it with my famous Italian tomato topping. I prepare this all ahead of time, so the flavors marinate, leaving you with a flavor party in your mouth.

The bruschetta is a great walk and talk, napkin holding food and so are wonton cups. Wonton wrappers, which can be purchased in the Asian section of your local supermarket, need to be brushed with a little egg and baked inside of a small cupcake/muffin tray. The next step is to fill them with whatever you want, like stir fried veggies or fresh guacamole. These are portable flavor pockets but make sure to serve them only when your guests arrive so the crispy wrappers don’t get soggy.

Sticky Sweetness

You can never go wrong with desserts; they are cute, delicious and usually dainty in size. There are so many options to choose from like cupcakes, truffles, cookies and, yes, you can even serve puddings and creamy desserts if you put them in single serving containers.

One of my favorites is a minion bake cheesecake with vanilla wafers. Seriously, it’s fruit, a cookie and creamy goodness all wrapped up inside of a small cupcake wrapper- you can’t go wrong. The process is simple:

  1. Place vanilla wafer in the bottom of cupcake paper (which should be inside of a cupcake tin)
  2. Mix up cream cheese, sugar, mascarpone cheese to taste and let sit for an hour in the fridge.
  3. Fill cupcake papers half way with cheesecake mixture and chill in the fridge for twenty minutes
  4. Top with your favorite fruit (cherries are my favorite) and serve chill

That’s it. They are delicious and you can make different variations by adding fruit to the cheesecake batter, or chocolate syrup on top or even whipped cream

If none of these options suit you, I suggest looking online and having a test night where you make tons of different party foods. Remember, you want to make something yummy, portable and messy free because no one wants to be spilling on their party dresses!
