So You Think You Know What’s In Your Cake? Guess Again!

Hawaiian Luau CakeWhat’s in YOUR Cake?

Cakes are the easiest and the tastiest baked delights to make, loved by one and all. Sometimes though, we need a little adventure even in the safest of the things we do, or in this case, make.

So when that wacky mood of yours sets in, you can sometimes surprise your guests with the weirdest of the cakes; they will love what they eat, you will love their expressions when they find what’s in there.

What’s in YOUR Cake?

Chillies in your cake:

Blame the movie “Chocolat” or its mash up with the “Mistress of Spices” and a little bit of the “crazy on the internet” and voila! You have a chocolate cake laced with chilli. Make your simple chocolate cake, modify it with half teaspoon of chilli powder and taste the magic. Sweet or spicy, dessert or savory, the decision is yours to make.

Coke in your cake:

You know those lazy days when you don’t feel like pouring yourself a glass of Coca-cola because you are busy baking? No? Well, don’t pour yourself a glass; use the coke in the cake instead. It will increase the deliciousness of the cake by ten folds, at least.

Ketchup in your cake:

A cake gets tangy when tomato ketchup is added to it. The people eating it will get a sudden hit of spicy tomatoes in the middle of your wholesome, sweet little cake. They will not be able to look at it in the same way ever again after you ask them ‘what’s in your cake’.

Cauliflower in your cake:

Your husband was wondering what is making the cake extra soft and unusually gooey today, wasn’t he? The cauliflower you forgot to use in your baked dish, but used in the cake instead, will be quite a revelation for him. Tell him you did it for his health, you love him, ask him ‘what’s in your cake’, and he would not be able to guess it, before reading this.

Margarita in your cake:

Looking for something which is sweet as well as salty? Add margarita mix to your cake before setting it to bake and make the cake worth its salt.

Mayonnaise in your cake:

Wondering how the cream is so exceptionally fluffy? Mayonnaise makes it so. Have it with fries, put it in your cake, spread it on bread or dress up your salad with it. Mayo never disappoints.

Pork in your cake:

For the people who didn’t find the margarita mix salty enough, or are far too much in love with pork, they can add salt pork to their cake. Sweet and salty obviously will reach new heights.

Curry-Banana-Coconut-Coffee:

It’s delicious, really! You won’t know what you will get in each bite. It’s more of a mystery, a mouth-watering mystery. Best thing to eat while watching The X-Files or Castle.

Crackers in your cake:

We all love our cakes when they are crunchy. Sometimes though the sweet crackers don’t do it for us. We need that dash of salt with our crunch. This craving will be satisfied easily by adding salty crackers in your cake. There will be a tingly crunch in every bite you take.

Potato chips in your cake:

Just your regular cake with those left over potato crisps added to it.

Pepper and cinnamon with saffron in your cake:

Because the other ingredients were not weird enough. This one too plays with the whole spicy yet sweet taste people can’t get enough off. You blow hot you blow cold, you get the eaters confused. There lies your superpower.

These are some of the weirdest cake ingredients you may find, and later fool people with. They might never know.

As the photographer of the cake labeled “pork in your cake”, I want to emphasize that there was nothing sweet in that cake. It was basically a meatloaf in cake form — beef, pork, and turkey iced with mashed potatoes and barbeque sauce.

Hi Amy, thanks for stopping by. Actually, the cake picture by you helps to visualize the ‘wacky’ idea proposed by the writer!!
