Mini Quiches
We have two easy mini quiches recipes – one made with shells and the other a crust-less version – and many different ideas for substitutions and variations.
This Mini Quiches recipe is easy to prepare and a great item to serve as a brunch appetizer or even a fun party appetizer. Made with puff pastry shells, they are simple and delicious.
Quiches are typically made with an egg custard type of filling that has different ingredients added for a wide variety of selection and types. They can be made of any type of combination of ingredients including meat, cheese, or seafood. Usually they are a baked custard type of filling, though when you are making the miniature ones, as we are in this case for entertaining a party of large groups, you can be far more liberal in what types of fillings you choose based on availability and the individual preferences of you and your guests.
One of our favorite recipes is listed below:
Spinach, Egg, & Bacon Mini Quiche
You Will Need:
6 slices of bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
1/4 cup shredded Swiss cheese (can substitute with cheddar or mozzarella instead)
1 teaspoon pepper
5 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
1/2 cup frozen spinach, thawed
1 package of puff pastry shells
Directions:
Mix eggs, milk and pepper together and set aside. Combine bacon, Swiss cheese, and spinach together. Arrange shells on a baking pan. Carefully spoon the mixture of bacon, cheese, and spinach into the shells, then spoon the egg and milk mixture on top of that and bake according to the package instructions. (Should be about 10-15 minutes in a 350 degree oven)
Crust-less Quiche
While it is easy to make them in a puff pastry shell, some people prefer eating them without the crust, which is why we’ve included this crust-less version as well:
You Will Need:
6 eggs
1/2 cup milk
4 precooked sausage links
1 green onion, thinly chopped
4 ounces mushrooms, thinly sliced
1/4 cup cheddar cheese
Directions:
Spray a mini muffin tin with non stick cooking spray or line with muffin cup paper liners. Chop the sausage links into fine pieces and combine with mushrooms, cheese, and green onion and spoon into each muffin cup section. Beat the six eggs together gently and add in the milk. Then slowly pour the egg and milk mixture on top of the other fillings. Bake for 10-15 minutes in a 350 degree oven or until the tops are a light golden brown and the eggs have set.
Variations:
There are plenty of other different variations you can make with these sample mini quiches recipes. Don’t be afraid to experiment with delicious substitutions such as crab meat, peppers, artichokes, chicken, eggplant, ham, different cheeses, or even for a sweet twist try some fruits such as strawberries.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to making these yummy mini quiche recipes that everyone at your occasion will be sure to love and enjoy. (And devour rather quickly, we might add!)
